Cardivo gift cards can be redeemed on your Stripe Checkout and Stripe payment links. To see how it works, send yourself a demo gift card in USD here, then redeem it on our Stripe Checkout demo here for a one-time payment and see this demo link for subscriptions.
To get started, create your free Cardivo account, complete the quick initial setup and then switch "Stripe" ON in the Integrations tab in your Cardivo settings.
Once you have switched this ON, we will automatically sync any existing and new gift cards on your Cardivo account to work with the "promotion codes" option on Stripe Checkout links. This integration is now ON and no additional setup is needed in Paythen.
In your Stripe account
In your Stripe account for any existing and new payment links or Checkout pages, ensure the Allow promotion codes option is set to ON. If you can't see this option on your payment pages, you'll need to edit each existing payment link, and under Advanced options, check the box next to "Allow promotion codes".
Redemption
For customers to redeem their gift cards on your Stripe Checkout and payment links, they will just need to click on the Add promotion code option shown on the payment page:

And here, they just need to enter their Cardivo gift card number to redeem it.
Subscription redemption behavior
Cardivo gift cards can be redeemed on Stripe payment links for one-time payments or subscriptions. For subscriptions, the amount up to the first payment will be applied immediately and any gift card balance will then be adjusted against the subscription record in Stripe as a credit balance immediately, bringing the gift card balance to zero. This will then automatically adjust future subscription amounts automatically till the full credit balance is used up. You can see the added credit balance in the Stripe customer record. This will reduce with each subscription payment.
You will also see relevant metadata in your Stripe customer and subscription records to easily identify this. This will clearly identify the balance used on the first payment and the balance applied to the Stripe customer record as credit.
When a gift card is applied to a Stripe subscription, since the full gift card balance is used immediately or shifted to Stripe as a credit balance, the gift card balance always becomes zero.
If a customer then chooses to cancel their subscription before their full credit balance is used up, you'll need to decide whether you want to refund this as a cash payment or not (we recommend clarifying this in your gift card terms) or whether they will just forfeit the balance. Noting that in some countries and jurisdictions, a refund might be legally required.
If you're allowing redemptions from other sources like our WooCommerce plugin, Paythen payment plans and even manual redemptions, the gift card balance and redemption history is automatically managed and visible on the gift card detail page.
